this IS it

Just saw 'This Is It'... wow, that show was going to be amazing. Go and see the film for a glimpse of what was going to be, the musical genius (and ultimate strangeness) of MJ and the brilliant outfits he wears. Balmain jacket, Alessandro Dell'Acqua sequined gold harem pants, skinny orange Dior Homme jeans - and these were just rehearsal outfits! Stylist Rushka Bergman, who first styled the star in 2007 for Italian Vogue was one of those responsible, along with NY fashion and costume designer Zaldy and his longtime designers Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins, for the outfits in the film and for what, undeniably, would have been a reintroduction of MJ as a fashion icon.

Couldn't find any pictures of the gold trousers - they were spectacular though!

glastonbeauty

Just arrived back from the whirlwind that is Glastonbury. Having recovered through a well needed combination of food and sleep I am ready and able to share my best and most beautiful bits of the festival. Gatherings such as these always provide a wonderful spectacle of self expression through outfits/face adornment/hairstyles and 2009 was no different. Noted on the stylish were; head ornaments - think crowns of flowers (see previous post on whichgoose) and Bat for Lashes style pieces incorporating false animal skulls, still more flowery shorts and skirts, bleached denim, playsuits – it seems summer is destined to play host to floral for a while longer.

Stars flying the flag for style were Lily Allen in her stage outfit of purple 70s catsuit, slashed to the navel and very sexy, which she paired with a bright pink wig (an amazingly novel way of combating the rain which I will definitely be adopting next year. So much more chic than a mac or hat!)

Florence (of And The Machines) in black bodysuit with embellished sleeves designed exclusively for her by Topshop - lucky girl.

VV Brown in a structured dress with some serious shoulders; reminds me of something Judy Jetson might wear if she was a foxy, on-trend songstress in 2009!

Ah Natasha Khan, how beautiful you are! Lady Bat worn a sequinned bodysuit with feathered shoulders to wow the crowds at the Other Stage.

Best of the Blokes - Pete Doherty (I always love what he wears) in a military style jacket teamed with fedora hat.

I did plan to take some street style-style photos of those people I saw who were pleasing to the eye but I'm afraid that plan didn't work out - oh well, they probably wouldn't have come out too well anyway!

rip michael jackson

I was at Glastonbury when I heard (I think that this was definitely one of those 'where were you when...' moments) and to be honest I didn't believe it. We have lost a legend of our generation. The man may be gone but the music and influence will live on; style-wise he was an icon too so let's take a look over his wardrobe...

Tight metallics in contrasting colours for his tour outfits

Sequinned jackets were a big feature in Michael's wardrobe, co-ordinated perfectly with whatever else he was wearing.

The single white glove which became a trademark. There has been specualtion that this was originally worn to conceal his increasingly obvious vitiligo.

Tight leather trousers, metallic jackets and huge studded belts made a stylish impact on stage.

More sequins!

Classic MJ style, open denim shirt worn with his iconic short trouser-white socks-black loafers look.

Jackson shows his own (and very 80s) take on a sharp suit.

Buckles, straps, more buckles and strapped up arm-wear - Michael Jackson at his very finest!

juno temple

This girl is to die for (is it natural or permed?) For someone so young she exudes such a confidence in her own style which is something to be admired.

Beautiful feathered Indian headdress (I want one!)

Keeping it simple and classic (with a twist) in a white shirt with corset

Resplendent in embroidered and folky Gucci dress

Smart ruffled shirt is the perfect foil to her wild hair.

Keep an eye out...
