See you next summer: LA Galaxy team-mates Beckham and Donovan See you next summer: LA Galaxy team-mates Beckham and Donovan
England kick off their campaign against the USA in Rustenburg on June 12 and it promises to be the pivotal encounter in Group C.
Bradley admits his initial reaction was ‘Oh no’ when he heard the draw but then quickly saw the bigger picture.
‘It’s a big challenge but one we’re excited about,’ he said.
‘Our fans are so excited. I started getting texts from players just thrilled about what a challenge and an opportunity it is.
‘It will make a lot more impact with the first game being against England. I think it will mean the interest will be at an all-time high [in America]. In terms of our continued growth, it could not be a bigger or better opportunity.’
Bradley picked out Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard and Fulham forward Clint Dempsey, as well as David Beckham’s LA Galaxy team-mate Landon Donovan, as his key players.
He is also confident Beckham will be on England’s plane to South Africa.
Bradley added: ‘He still has great quality with his deliveries, with his set-piece ability.
‘I think the likelihood is we’ll see him in the squad.’
Bradley also revealed he hoped a good showing next summer could boost his chances of working in England one day, saying: ‘The opportunity to manage or be an assistant manager at some point would absolutely be something I would consider.’
